2022 Faranth Hot Sauce (Smoked Carolina Reaper)

2022 Faranth is double the heat of 2021 Faranth, so be warned.

On one of our first dates at Buffalo Wild Wings, I poked fun at Brian and urged him to do the Blazin' Wing Challenge.

(For those in the know, if you can eat twelve of their wings doused in their spiciest sauce in under six minutes, you win the challenge and get a t-shirt. The sauce is rated at over 300,000 Scoville and carries warnings for children and pregnant women.)

You see, Brian already orders a dozen wings in this sauce as his normal menu choice. The only real challenge is that he is a notoriously slow eater. He just barely made it under the wire. Our waitress was impressed he could do it, while I just laughed because it's the fastest I've ever seen him eat.

Why am I telling you this? Because this hot sauce was made for him.

It's not like any of the hot sauces you'll find on supermarket shelves. 

It's hot. Hot, hot, hot. We don't know how hot because we can't pull out a fancy test and find out the Scoville units. But I know it makes Brian's eyes water and the back of his tongue dance. The hottest pepper in our Faranth Hot Sauce is the Carolina Reaper, the hottest pepper in the world at 2,200,000 Scoville.

More importantly, Faranth is full of FLAVOR. Nobody likes hot sauce that exists solely to spike heat without any flavor.

Here's how Brian describes it: "They're getting into a bottle of heavenly-tasting awesomeness. Sweet acidity is at the forefront with a steel-toed boot of back-of-tongue smoky spice to drive the flavor out of the park. Absolute amazeballs."

About Our Hot Sauce

We grew the peppers we used in this hot sauce. Since we're just a little humble homestead, we know that we won't be able to exactly duplicate every batch. As such, this is an annual limited run of fourteen bottles of goodness, made in 2022. 

Brian has dubbed this batch Faranth after a particular dragon among the dragons of Pern, a fictional race created by Anne McCaffrey in her sci-fi fantasy world.

Ingredients: hot peppers (carolina reaper, scorpion tongue, death spiral, naga, scotch bonnet, paprika, cayenne) white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar, raw honey, salt, natural smoke flavor, black pepper, ginger, cumin, molasses, coriander
